FAQs

  1. What is a FAQ?
FAQ is a term you will see quite often on the Internet. It simply means Frequently Asked Questions and, as in the case of this one, is a useful place for collecting answers to those questions that seem to crop up again and again.

  2. How many sc100's survive in the UK?
It is difficult to give an accurate figure but of the 4696 cars imported between October 1979 and August 1982 the D.V.L.C computer only lists 130 remaining. It is not known whether this is the number currently roads taxed or total number remaining. Many cars are laid up in storage so hopefully this figure is for taxed vehicles.

  3. What fuel should I use in my SC100?
The use of unleaded fuel is recommended. Although an old car, unleaded was widely available in Japan since 1972. It is even mentioned on page 6 of the owner's handbook.

  4. What technical specifications can you give me?
All the facts and figures are on our Technical Specifications page.

  5. I'm going to buy one soon, what should I look out for?
Basically the same sort of things you should look for when buying any car but visit our buyers guide for the definitive info.

  6. What's in the magazine "The Rascal"?
Latest news and views, technical tips and advice, stories, lists of events. See an example of the magazine under Newsletter.

  7. How do I join the club and what are the fees?
From the membership page you can join online, or print off a membership form to post to us. Or you may phone 01737 766263 for more details. The fees are £15.00 per year £1.00 of which is donated to the Club's chosen charity Whizz-Kidz.

  8. What does the club get up to?
We produce a quarterly newsletter, attend various car shows around the country including our annual national meet in July at Billing Aquadrome, Northampton. In September 2000 several Club members drove 2355 miles in 5½ days for charity. We also aim to remanufacture obsolete spares and purchase new spares to keep as many cars on the road as possible.

  9. I love the car - Where can I buy one?
Most people, once they have owned an sc100, want to keep them forever! There are usually one or two on our Cars for sale page or in the Club newsletter, due to new additions to the family or change of circumstances. For a latest copy of the for sale list e-mail forsale@sc100club.com or try searching in local papers, Exchange and Mart, Auto Trader, Ebay or classic car magazines.

  10. My local dealer says parts are unavailable. Is this true?
This is not true; most dealers don't know what the car is and predictably come up with the same answer, "Sorry, nothing is available". Don't believe them, keep trying or contact the Club's parts advisor, Sam. You'll be amazed what she can help you with!

  11. Where can I buy spare parts?
Spare parts are available new (as long as it is available) from your local Suzuki dealer, or try Sam, the sc100 club parts advisor. We also have a large stock of aftermarket Japanese made service items. Check our Spares availability page.

  12. I need more engine power, what can I do?
A better free-flowing air filter, luminition electronic ignition may make some difference. Some members have added four carburettors, turbo chargers or SU carburettors, but it can become a very expensive affair. One member has decided to convert to front engine, rear wheel drive! Check out our page on Modifying your Whizzkid. Alternatively, buy a faster car and keep your Whizzkid for fun.

  13. What other modifications can I do to my car?
Wider tyres on standard rims give better road holding but self-centering is affected. Koni shocks are available from Holland, but are very expensive. Check out our page on Modifying your Whizzkid.

  14. How much is my car worth?
Difficult to say without inspecting it. Cars start as cheap as £30.00 and rise to as much as £5000.00 although the vehicle would have to be in exceptionally good condition. Check out our Buyers Guide for more info.

  15. I need to sell my car, can you help?
The Club can certainly help in two ways. We can advertise your car free of charge in the newsletter, or for a small fee of £5.00 per month we can advertise your car on this web site with a colour photograph. E-mail details to forsale@sc100club.com, or phone 01737 766263.

  16. Can you supply the colour code for my car?
Providing the car is an original colour, yes we can. Check out our Technical Specifications page. The Club can supply spray cans in all the original colours.

  17. I need a workshop manual, can you help?
An original Suzuki workshop manual is no longer available from your local Suzuki dealer or through us. Some second hand copies do occasionally turn up but be warned, not all aspects of repairs for the car are covered. The Club produces its own technical information sheets for popular repairs and can photocopy or e-mail relevant sections of the manual.
E-mail for this service only is techinfo@suzukisc100club.org.uk

  18. What can I look forward to seeing on the website in the future?
As and when time allows we intend to add more photographs of events and members cars and a hints and tips page together with fine tuning the rest of the site. We hope to construct a message board in the coming months.

  19. Does the club cater for any other Suzuki models?
No, currently the club only caters for all sc100's, Cervo's and earlier Fronte 2-stroke models

  20. It looks a bit small, do you think I'll fit in it?
It's deceptive, there is more than enough legroom even if you're over 6 foot. Most people are very surprised how roomy they are in the front.

  21. Don't sc100's rust badly?
They are no worse than any other 70s/80s car. The survival rate is quite high when compared with the number imported. When was the last time you saw a rust free Cavalier, Sierra, Montego, Jaguar of the same era or even saw one on the road. Where have they all gone?

  22. I've got something I would like to see on the web-site or in the newsletter. Who do I send it to?
For submission to the RAscAL Newsletter or Website, contact Tony Brown by E-mail on sc100club@btinternet.com or phone Sam Brown on 01737 766263.

  23. I've still got a question that isn't answered here.
Then phone or E-mail us on 01737-766263 question@suzukisc100club.org.uk.
